This medieval bridge dates back over 1000 years, but has been rebuilt and repaired many times, such as during the 1966 floods. During World War II, the bridge was spared by the Germans, unlike other bridges in Florence. The bridge has always hosted shop owners and merchants, who display their goods on tables to potential buyers.
