Plaza Mayor, dating back to the 1600s, is a plaza located in the heart of Madrid, Spain, only a few blocks away from kilometer zero. Originally called Plaza del Arrabal and other names since, it was not until after the Spanish Civil War that it was named Plaza Mayor. The plaza has been held events such as executions, soccer matches, public markets, and bull fights. Blood from past bull fights can still be seen on the walls of the plaza today.
