The colorful Old Town of Salzburg, Austria, as viewed high above from Hohensalzburg Castle.



The castle was built in 1077. Salzburg, or "salt castle", derived from the barges of salt that use to be carried on the Salzach river, can be seen flowing through the city. Today, Salzburg is world famous for its beautiful Alpine views, the birthplace of Mozart, baroque architecture, and film settings for parts of the film The Sound of Music.

A view of Matsumoto Castle, its bridge, and moat, which is located in the city of Matsumoto, Japan in the Nagano Prefecture.



The castle, which was built by Shimadachi Sadanaga, started construction in 1504. At that time, the castle was known as Fukashi Castle. It is believed that construction was completed by 1594. Matsumoto Castle was in use from 1504 to 1868 and rule by many different lords, and has been renovated multiple times over the years.

The capital city of Edinburgh, Scotland, as viewed from the Scott Monument at 200 feet.


At a population of over 470,000, Edinburgh is the largest city in Scotland, which was founded in the 7th century. On the far right, Edinburgh Castle can be seen dominating the city from high above. Arthur's Seat, at 823 feet can be seen on the left. Old Town can be found in between, which dates back to medieval times. Over 1 million tourists from around the world visit Edinburgh, second to London.

The city of Segovia, population 55,000, is located just 35 minutes north of Madrid by train.


Some of its famous sights include the Cathedral of Segovia, the Church of Vera Cruz, an ancient Roman Aqueduct, and a castle known as the Alcazar of Segovia. This view of Segovia was taken from one of the towers of the castle. The Cathedral of Segovia can be seen in the center of the view.
