Its English name was given by British sailors in the 19th century, who mistook calcite crystals for diamonds. The age of this volcanic crater is thought to be about 200,000 years. Waikiki can be seen in the center along with its resorts and beaches. Kapiolani Park can be seen in the foreground.

The stadium featured a design of 96 arches know as the "Crown of Arches," which echoed the design of the Gateway Arch. Other teams to call the stadium home were the St. Louis Cardinals and Rams NFL teams and the St. Louis Stars soccer team. Demolition of the stadium began on November 7, 2005. The Cardinals now play in a new stadium by the same name.

The Kern River starts near Mount Whitney at 14,505 in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and runs south towards the city of Bakersfield where it is diverted for irrigation, and meets with the California Aqueduct. The river is very popular for activities such as whitewater rafting and fly fishing. Recreational users should stay out of the water as the flow is very dangerous and has swept many people away.

This park was given to the city in 1927 for all those to enjoy. The 605 foot Space Needle, which opened for the 1962 World's Fair, can be seen in the center. Elliott Bay is on the right, while Mt. Mount Rainier can slightly be seen in the background at 14,411 feet.
