Since May 24, 1883, the Brooklyn Bridge has been an icon of New York City.
This bridge that spans the East River is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. The bridge was originally named the New York and Brooklyn Bridge until 1867. In 1964, the Brooklyn Bridge become a National Historic Landmark.
